“The kids are alright…”


This past Sunday, my son amazed me.  Our church has a children’s program during the sermon, but the kids (and teachers) come back up at the end of the service for Act IV: Renewal (The Lord’s Supper, Song of Response, Benediction).

I will digress a bit here, if I may.  Our church service is laid out like a drama of four acts – Creation (Prayer of Invocation, Call to Worship, Songs of Praise), Fall (Prayer of Confession),  Redemption (Assurance of Forgiveness, Offering, Song of Response, Greeting One Another, Scripture Reading, Sermon, Confession of Faith, Song of Response) and the aforementioned Renewal.  Those of you who know me understand how much this idea of a Sunday drama appeals to me.

Back to my son.  Logan, our six year old, gets back from City Kids (the children’s program) and immediately starts writing on one of the bulletins.  He continues to write while…
